Canadian country artist Tenille Townes will be in Kelowna later this year.
The 30-year-old announced a cross-country Canadian tour this morning and it will wrap up with back-to-back shows in Kelowna in November.
She will play the Kelowna Community Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 23, and Sunday, Nov. 24.
Townes career began when she was just a teenager and she was nominated for Female Artist of the Year at the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) in 2011 when she was just 17 years old.
While she lost out to Terri Clark that year, Townes finally won the award in 2019 and has yet to give it up, winning it five years in a row between 2019-23.
Along with her Canadian tour announcement today, Townes also revealed a brand new single called “Thing That Brought Me Here.”
She says she wrote the song with Ben Rector about her truck that has become a symbol of her dream and a piece of home, which has been her only vehicle since she started driving that drove her 47 hours from Alberta to Nashville when she moved for her career.
“I want the story of ‘Thing That Brought Me Here’ to live on through a song and I want it to be a reminder to anyone listening that our ambitions are worth holding on to and fighting for,” she explained.
“If you would have told the high school kid driving this truck that she’d be living in Nashville writing and recording songs and touring the world, she’d be losing her mind. I never want to let go of that feeling.”
Tickets to see Townes in Kelowna this fall will go on sale through Live Nation at 10 am on Friday, March 22.
