(UPDATE: May 1 @ 3:15 pm) - FortisBC crews have restored power to over 1,000 customers affected by this afternoon's outage in Kelowna.
At this point, 355 customers remain without power and it's not clear when their lights will turn back on.
(Original story: May 1 @ 1:45 pm) - The lights have gone out for well over hundreds of FortisBC customers in Kelowna.
The utility provider says 1,647 customers are currently affected by the power outage, which began around 1:15 pm.
It stretches southwest to Enterprise and Leckie, and pushes into Rutland in the area around Ben Lee Park.
A KelownaNow reader reported that businesses like Walmart, Home Depot and Golf Town are all affected.
FortisBC lists the cause of the outage as “underground equipment damage.”
Crews have yet to be assigned to the repair job and there’s no estimated time as to when power might be restored.
