Central Okanagan Tim Hortons kicked off their Smile Cookie campaign on Monday and it will run until the end of this weekend.
The annual initiative supports the YMCA’s Health Snacks Program, which ensures all kids in Y child care programs, including many living below the poverty level, have access to nutritious food every day.
In 2023, the campaign helped provide 437,570 healthy snacks to Central Okanagan kids and the goal has been set at 500,000 for this year’s efforts.
“With soaring food costs, more and more families are struggling to afford nutritious food and an increasing number of children are coming to us hungry,” states Tammie Watson from the YMCA of Southern Interior.
“Funds raised through the Smile Cookie campaign help us ensure all children in our care receive daily healthy snacks to help them grow and thrive.”
Angelo and Dawn Fiacco, owners of the Tim Hortons in Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre in West Kelowna, say it’s more important than ever for communities to come together during these difficult times.
“Our team members are excited to continue working with our local charity partner, the YMCA of Southern Interior BC, to raise as much as possible to support their child care programs,” they said in a joint statement.
Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie campaign has been supporting YMCAs across Canada since it was introduced in 2013.
