COVID-19 case counts are down across most of the Interior Health area, according to the latest data from the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).
The May 2–8 figures show declines in both the region's cities and rural areas, though Golden, the Central Okanagan and some parts of the Kootenays are still reporting relatively high numbers.
Highlights from the latest data include:
Central Okanagan: 162 cases (down from 174 in April 25–May 1 data)
Kamloops: 33 cases (from 57)
Vernon: 22 cases (from 25)
Penticton: 15 cases (from 34)
South Okanagan: 3 cases (from 14)
Summerland: 4 cases (from 28)
Golden: 12 cases (from 16)
Revelstoke: 1 case (from 6)
Cranbrook: 7 cases (from 15)
Kettle Valley, Princeton, Kimberley and North Thompson are among the areas to report no new cases in the latest data.
Following a leak last week, the BCCDC also released new figures looking at cases by neighbourhood.
That includes a breakdown of the Central Okanagan region, showing that Glenmore, Downtown Kelowna and Lake Country have all seen an increase in positive cases of over 3%.
In Rutland and Lake Country, 10.1–20% of all tests came back positive between May 4 and 10.
The Central Okanagan as a whole, however, had a positive rate of between 5.1% and 10%.
Much of the rest of the Interior also had levels below 10%, except Kootenay Lake (10.1–20%).
